YEF INTERVENTION SCHOOLS DIPLOMA IN TRAUMA AND MENTAL HEALTH INFORMED SCHOOLS
OVERVIEW
A practical skills-based course, underpinned by evidence-based research studies. Designed to inform and empower staff to respond effectively to vulnerable children/ young people who have experienced trauma and/or have mental health issues by delivering interventions addressing mild to moderate mental health problems, with a focus on recovery.
Assessment: 20 minute presentation followed by Q&A
The diploma training takes place in 2-day modules across 6 months. There are 8 different cohorts of Diploma training which will begin between January and March 2024 and finish by mid-October 2024. Staff attending do not need to be teachers, but we recommend that at least one member of staff with strategic oversight attends as well as at least one member of staff working directly with Year 8/9. The content of the Whole Staff Training and SLT training will be included within this course and so staff who attend will not also need to attend the 3-hour training (but are welcome to). The number of staff attending will depend on school size, but we recommend a minimum of 1 delegate per 250 pupils, up to a maximum of 10 members of staff. The training includes learning to respond to young people in distressed states and relate to them in ways that alleviate their suffering so staff attending this training should have capacity for empathy as well as being self-aware and emotionally robust.
Please select the cohort that you would like to join, and complete the following application form. Please note: courses will take up to 35 delegates, places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis and confirmation of your place will be sent by email from the TISUK Admissions Team.
Due to the confidential nature of the small group work, delegates will need to access this training on an individual device in a private space.
All YEF Diploma courses are now fully booked. Places on other courses may be available.
