OVERVIEW
In support of the government's commitment for all schools and to have a Senior Mental Health Lead by 2025, this 5-day course helps schools to develop a whole school approach to mental health and wellbeing. It is a DfE approved training and DfE grant funding is available to cover the cost.

VISION AND AIMS
Devised and run by Senior Educators and Senior Psychologists and covering all aspects of leading mental health support in a setting including policy, practice and leadership. This course supports Senior Mental Health Leads in 8 key areas-

WHAT YOU WILL GAIN FROM ATTENDING
- Become champions of mental health through the development of robust, visible, credible leadership.
- Understand the causes of mental ill-health, prevention, and intervention.
- Be up to date with psychiatric diagnoses/ medication and trauma-informed alternatives.
- Learn therapeutic interventions for trained emotionally available adults in school.
- Develop a PSHE curriculum informed by the latest research on effective child mental health interventions.
- Gain access to vital materials, resources, and model policies, tried and tested in 1000s of UK schools, to create a Mentally Healthy School for staff, students and to support parents.
COURSE STRUCTURE
- Webinar based learning- 2hrs pre-course and 2hrs during course.
- 2 x 2 consecutive training days and
- 1 x assessment day.
The sessions are live online and interactive, so delegates are required to have a camera and microphone on their device and delegates are expected to have their cameras on for the duration of the training. The delivery of content is intensive, and 100% attendance is expected.
ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for this course you must be in a role where you are able to put an action plan based on the course content into place in your setting. Schools in England can claim the cost of the training through the government Senior Mental Health Lead Funding Grant. Details of how to claim the grant can be found here- https://www.gov.uk/guidance/senior-mental-health-lead-training. The deadline for using the grant has been extended to any course starting before 31st March 2024.
